PUBLIC DOMAIN DISKS ADDED TO THE LIBRARY SINCE MEGADISC 40
On Fred and the Fish disks
Fred Fish has stopped creating "Fish Disks" with #1000, though he is
still continuing to collect public domain software together. He has moved
on to putting all his public domain under subject classification on CDROM
now (ie. games, utilities, demos, etc). From now on we will put on to
floppy disk these new programs from Fred and adding them into our
collection. In the future we will have a separate list detailing the new
PD from Fred for those of you who wish to continue to get Fred's disks
(even though they are not "Fish Disks" as we have come to know them).
Rest assured that Fred has not abandoned the Amiga (indeed his sole
income is the Amiga) and we will continue to keep disks of software he has
collected on his FreshFish CDROMs.

The disks listed below are separated into various categories, just as they
are on the Catalogue Disk: AMOS for Amos disks, natch!

GA for Games
GAS for Graphics And Sound (demos, etc.)
MISC for Miscellaneous
MS for Music & Sound
UT for Utilities
Also new for our public domain collection is the NDOS listing (see
listing in this directory). The NDOS collection is a collection of demos
which are on non-standard DOS disks.
You can order any of these from us at any time, by Phone [Toll-free 008
227418, or (02) 9593692], by Fax [(02) 9593525] or by Post. You can use a
Credit Card in any case or send in a cheque or money order. See further
details in the MD_INFO drawer in the ORDERING file. All these disks are
available from us for $3.50 each, or $2.50 for subscribers, and the usual
"11 for the price of 10" discount applies.
Remember that you can get a free Catalogue-disk from us if you haven't got
one already - if you have, you can get it updated for free by sending it
in.
Note for Beginners:
Don't be confused or intimidated by the listing here - all of these disks
represent a great way to use your Amiga, and almost all are easy to use -
all you need is to use the mouse. If you have any difficulty, you can
always ring and get help from us, so experiment with your Amiga!
Check out also our special THEME PACKS, ie, collections of disks on
special topics - see the file in this drawer.
If anyone finds any problem with any of our disks, please let us know so
we can keep the collection the best and easiest to use.

MISCELLANEOUS DISKS
MISC 212
Tu by Laslo Godel (Ivan Millett)
This is another book written by Ivan Millett in New Zealand. Like his
last one, Nummus, it is "written" by his character Laslo Godel from his
original work, Deus Ex Machina. Here is a description from Ivan:
" As Teresa `Quincey' McNairn writes in her introduction to
Tu,
a
previously unknown work by Laslo Godel:
"... if there is one silly myth that
Tu
should help lay to rest, Laslo
Godel was clearly no Antichrist as some religious fundamentalists would
even now like to have us believe. Perhaps they believed as they did
because of what they saw as his `Teutonic' views about eugenics,
euthanasia, and the like which he was known to have held when he was alive
and which are fully spelled out in
Tu.
But then, it has to be said,
non-Contacted Worlds have to do these things for themselves where they do
them at all, something we don't have to think of with our Eonmern and our
nice, clean, Terminal Worlds. And the fundamentalists weren't on their
own, many humanists did not care for his views that exploration into
artificial consciousness would give us insights into our own
consciousness, they felt he was just trying to turn us into machines.
Godel has tried to deal with such concerns in
Tu,
though not perhaps
convincingly."
Some of Miss McNairn's views about
Tu
are even less charitable than
these, indeed for her
Tu
was something of a disappointment. But she was
looking at it from the world of 2040 described in
Deus
Ex Machina,
a very
different world from the late 90's when she believed Godel wrote the
essays that make up
Tu.
Was Laslo Godel as deranged as so many people believed? Or was he
merely ahead of his time, a time he might have made his own if he had
survived, and Contact not intervened?
And how would we see him and
Tu
way back here in 1994? "
Great thanks to Ivan for this and his other works.
